چکیده

Recent investigations show that there are different combustion strategies promise to achieve higher efficiencies in internal engines. Advanced modes such as reactivity controlled compression ignition (RCCI) and dual-mode dual-fuel (DMDF) have proven be able low NOx soot engine-out emissions while being operate over the complete engine map. On another front, intensive research has been done fuels field. Oxygenated fuels, like oxymethylene dimethyl ethers (OMEx) methanol, of special interest because their potential reduce emissions, allowing adjust parameters, EGR, values also avoid other problems excessive in-cylinder peaks pressure. In this research, effects diesel-methanol OMEx-gasoline were studied on a (DFDM) multi-cylinder at 1800 rpm for various loads (25, 50, 80 100%). To do so, dedicated calibration optimize brake thermal efficiency trying maintain under EURO VI limitations was applied. Then, characteristics, performance results compared base diesel-gasoline case. Boundary conditions (intake pressure, temperature air mass) each fuel combination where similar, with exception premixed energy ratio, which average 20% lower diesel-methanol. Each was, weighted against by means an merit function, lowest value closest approximation ideal BSFCeq, BSNOx, BSSoot, BSCO BSHC targets. Results presents no significant differences respect terms equivalent BSFCeq NOx, substitution diesel OMEx of, although penalizing HC CO not only achieving (0.4 g/kWh) limits but future VII (0.2 well negligible production allows using EGR levels up 50%.

Sliding Mode Control of Both Air-to-Fuel and Fuel Ratios for a Dual-Fuel Internal Combustion Engine

A multi-input-multi-output (MIMO) sliding mode control scheme was developed with guaranteed stability to simultaneously control air-to-fuel ratio (AFR) and fuel ratios to desired levels under various air flow disturbances by regulating the mass flow rates of engine port-fuel-injection (PFI) and direct injection (DI) systems. The sliding mode control performance was compared with a baseline mult...

Air-to-Fuel and Dual-Fuel Ratio Control of an Internal Combustion Engine

Air-to-fuel (A/F) ratio is the mass ratio of the air-to-fuel mixture trapped inside a cylinder before combustion begins, and it affects engine emissions, fuel economy, and other performances. Using an A/F ratio and dualfuel ratio control oriented engine model, a multi-inputmulti-output (MIMO) sliding mode control scheme is used to simultaneously control the mass flow rate of both port fuel inje...

Studying Simultaneous Injection of Natural Gas and Gasoline Effect on Dual Fuel Engine Performance and Emissions

According to the Global Fuel Crisis, it seems necessary to use alternative fuel instead of gasoline. Since the natural gas is cheaper, have higher frequency than gasoline and less pollution, it is a suitable fuel. Many efforts have been done in order to replace gasoline with natural gas. One of the methods is to inject natural gas and gasoline fuel simultaneously and to use the benefits of both...

Combustion Characteristics of a Diesel-hydrogen Dual Fuel Engine

Among the alternative fuels, hydrogen shows great potential in the near future. In the present study, hydrogen utilization as diesel engine fuel was investigated. Hydrogen can not be used directly in a diesel engine due to its autoignition temperature higher than that of diesel fuel. One alternative method is to use hydrogen in enrichment or induction. To investigate the combustion characterist...
